Getting into the Venue

The Alexandra Theatre Birmingham is situated on Suffolk Queensway, a stone’s throw away from Birmingham New Street Station. There are two shallow steps from street to foyer and Box Office level. Doors are attended for those who need assistance, steps are highlighted and there are handrails in place. Level access to the Stalls is available via the easy access entrance on Station Street.

There are steps to reach the Dress Circle, Grand Upper Circle and bars, unless using the easy access entrance to the Stalls, which is suitable for wheelchair users and access patrons. Please note there is no lift at the venue.

Customer Assistance

Access patrons with limited mobility and wheelchair users are strongly advised to book seats in the Stalls. Those who wish to transfer into fixed aisle seats are advised to bring a companion and notify the theatre when booking. Wheelchair users can book spaces in Row D, E and T of the Stalls, which provide a space for a wheelchair and a fixed seat for a companion.

An at-seat service is available for access patrons who are unable to reach the bars. Staff are on hand to assist with navigation throughout the theatre.

Accessible toilet facilities are located on the ground floor of the Stalls. They are separate, private, unisex facilities and just 3m away from the accessible entrance on Station Street.

How to Book

For those who require assistance or wish to book wheelchair or transfer spaces, it is important to book in advance to guarantee availability and notify the theatre of any special requirements. Discounted tickets are available for access patrons and a companion, with price depending on the show booking. Online booking is available if you sign up to the ATG Access Scheme.

Section Accessibility

Stalls

The Stalls are accessible via the main foyer, which is two shallow steps up from street level. Alternatively, there is level access to wheelchair spaces in Row D, E and T of the Stalls through an easy access entrance located on Station Street. Spaces are located at either end of Row D and E, and between seats 2-6 and 7-11 of Row T.

Those who wish to transfer can do so into fixed aisle seats. Companions can be seated next to access patrons at all times.

Legroom is good throughout the Stalls, with extra comfort available in aisle seats.

Dress Circle

The Dress Circle can be accessed via 15+ steps, which are highlighted and have handrails in place. Please note that there is no customer lift to this section, therefore it is not suitable for those with limited mobility.

Extra legroom can be found in aisle seats.

Grand Upper Circle

The Grand Upper Circle can be accessed via 15+ steps, all with highlighted steps and handrails in place. Please note that due to the steepness of this section, it is not recommended for those with limited mobility.

Legroom can feel limited in this section, particularly in seats 4-5 of Row D.
