A Slight Ache / The Dumb Waiter Tickets

    Harold Pinter Theatre

Danny Dyer and Martin Freeman star in the final double-bill of the highly-anticipated Pinter at the Pinter Season. A Slight Ache / The Dumb Waiter features as part of a wider five-month-long celebratory season of some of the British playwright’s finest works, performed at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre.

The Jamie Lloyd Company produces a monumental five-month-long season of double-bills and short plays at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre, as part of a celebratory Pinter at the Pinter Season. Paying tribute to the writer’s legacy 10 years after his death, this strictly limited season runs from September 2018 to February 2019, featuring a variety of lesser-known plays and his finest works.

Comedic double-bill A Slight Ache / The Dumb Waiter is the season’s finale, both of which explore the dynamics between the politically powerful and powerless. In A Slight Ache, a couple wrestle with ageing, the unknown aspects of their future and the perceived threat an outsider poses on their lives.

The Dumb Waiter is the comedic masterpiece that sees two hit-men wait in a derelict building for details of their next job. As the titular dumb waiter produces increasingly bizarre requests, the men realise that there might be more to their next hit than they expect.

Casting includes Danny Dyer and Martin Freeman. Dyer is best-known for his recurring role in EastEnders, whilst his stage credits include The Homecoming at the Almeida Theatre and No Man’s Land at the National Theatre. Freeman is well-known for his extensive screen credits, including The Hobbit series and Sherlock, whilst he most recently appeared on stage in James Graham’s Labour of Love at the Noel Coward Theatre.

Both short plays are directed by Jamie Lloyd, who helms the entire season. Known for his exciting adaptations of classical plays, Lloyd is celebrated for appealing to diverse theatre audiences. As a young director, he honed his talent at the Sheffield Crucible, with his first main-stage production being Pinter’s The Caretaker. Other recent credits include Guards at the Taj, Apologia and Killer.

This season of plays is a fitting tribute to one of Britain’s finest writers who has left a lasting legacy in world theatre. With a stellar creative team across the entire season, A Slight Ache / The Dumb Waiter is guaranteed to be a fitting season finale. The production runs at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre from 31 January 2019, with a press night on 6 February 2019.
