Gillian Anderson stars alongside Lily James in a thrilling new stage adaptation of All About Eve, playing for a strictly limited West End season. Running at the Noel Coward Theatre, the twisted tale is a fascinating look into obsession, jealousy and ambition, as a fading theatre star hires a golden girl superfan as an assistant.

Based on the 1950 film of the same name starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter, as well as Mary Orr’s original play The Wisdom of Eve, All About Eve follows Broadway star Margo Channing as she becomes concerned that the spotlight will fade on her once she hits 40. Soon, golden girl Eve arrives. A young, beautiful woman who professes to be Margo’s biggest fan, her arrival quickly everything gets turned upside down.

Gillian Anderson (The X Files, A Streetcar Named Desire) stars as Margo Channing, alongside Lily James (Romeo and Juliet, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again) as Eve. Further casting includes BAFTA Award-winner Monica Dolan as Karen, Stanley Townsend as theatre critic Addison DeWitt, Sheila Reid as Birdie, Julian Ovenden as Bill and Rhashan Stone as Lloyd. Ian Drysdale plays Max Fabian, Tsion Habte is Phoebe, Charles Hagerty is Waiter, Grace Stone plays Ensemble and Philip Voyzey takes on the part of the Pianist.

Ivo van Hove directs, following the recent Broadway transfer of his National Theatre production of Network. The production also features set and lighting design by Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys and sound design by Tom Gibbons, with music from two-time Mercury Prize-winner PJ Harvey.

Taking a keen look at our obsession with celebrity and fascination with youth and identity, All About Eve is a story that never gets old. Playing a strictly limited season at the West End’s Noel Coward Theatre, the production runs from 2 February 2019, with a press night on 12 February 2019.
