Location

The Almeida Theatre is located off Islington’s vibrant Upper Street, a foodie and cultural destination in North London. Boutique shopping, cafes, restaurants and other theatre and performance venues are nearby. There are also many pubs and bars for pre and post-theatre drinks. There are good transport links to the theatre, via tubes and nearby bus stops. Check www.tfl.gov.uk to plan your journey before heading to the theatre.

Rail

Highbury & Islington Station is about 15 minutes from the Almeida. Exit the station on Highbury Corner, turn right and stay on the main road, which will turn into Upper Street. Continue along Upper Street, passing the Union Chapel on your left. Carry on until you reach Almeida Street, then turn right. The theatre will be on your left.

Tube

Highbury & Islington is the closest station to the theatre, served by the Victoria line and the Overground. Angel is also close by, served by the Northern line.

From Highbury & Islington, exit the station on Highbury Corner, turn right and continue along Upper Street, passing the Union Chapel on your left. Carry on until you reach Almeida Street and the theatre.

From Angel, cross Upper Street. Turn right, and continue walking for about 10 minutes. When you reach Almeida Street, turn left and the theatre should be in front.

Bus

Several bus routes go along Upper Street from Highbury Corner (Stop F), which is a few minutes from the station.

Bus routes include: 4, 19, 30, 43, 530 and 812, which all stop on Upper Street, a few minutes away from the theatre. Turn into Almeida Street from Upper Street, and the theatre will be on your left.

Car

The Almeida does not have a car park, but the Business Design Centre parking facilities are a 600m walk away. Between 7am and 7pm, it costs £3.10 per hour. From 7pm to7 am, rates are £1.50 per hour.

There is no parking available on Almeida Street until 6.30pm on weekdays and 1.30pm on Saturdays. Taxis and drivers are permitted to drop off outside the theatre at any time.
