About the show
The entirely improvised comedy show is performed in full Regency costume and has been earning belly laughs across the UK. Whether you’re a Jane Austen fan or not, you’ll be able to appreciate the quick wit and high quality entertainment that makes up this unique show.
Each show consists of a completely new ‘lost’ novel, taking a title suggested by the audience as the launchpad. No two performances are ever the same and every night feels totally fresh – for both the audience and the cast. Past lost novels have included gems such as The Sixth Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Shark. The show has enjoyed years of sell-out success at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, an acclaimed season at The Savoy and more than 500 performances across 150 venues countrywide. The collective won the 2014 Chortle Award for ‘Best Character, Improv or Sketch Group’ and in 2016 were dubbed ‘Best Improvised Comedy Act’ in the What’s On London Comedy Awards.
Austentatious features an exceptionally talented cast comprising Amy Cooke-Hodgson, Andrew Hunter Murray, Cariad Lloyd, Charlotte Gittins, Daniel Nils Roberts, Graham Dickson, Joseph Morpurgo and Rachel Parris.
Set design is by Amy Cook, complemented by lighting design from Damian Robertson.
Of the residency the cast have commented, “We are delighted to be paying a weekly visit to the home of The Woman in Black, although we do think she could do with some rather more colourful outfits and maybe a new bonnet”.
