Dr Seuss's The Lorax Tickets

Old Vic Theatre

The Lorax, Dr. Seuss’s beloved fable about the moustachioed Lorax and his attempt to save the precious Truffula trees, is adapted for the Old Vic by Max Webster (James and the Giant Peach) and David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Adventures of Tintin). With colourful theatre, songs, and trademark wackiness, The Lorax is guaranteed to be the perfect Christmas treat.

“I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues”. This Christmas, the Old Vic is transported to the land of Bar-ba-loots, Truffula trees, and Thneeds as Dr. Seuss’s magical children’s book about the plucky and environmentally-conscious Lorax is adapted for the stage.

The Lorax follows a curious young boy on a quest to discover why his town is so polluted. For the price of fifteen cents, a nail, and the shell of a great-great-great grandfather snail, a strange and isolated man called the Once-ler begins to unravel the mystery as he tells the boy his story. What was once a colourful world, thriving with Swomee Swans and Humming Fish, is destroyed when the Once-ler’s knitting factory moves in and cuts down all the Truffula trees to make ridiculous garments called Thneeds. This summons the cantankerous little Lorax who speaks for the wildlife and warns the Once-ler about the damage he’ll do. But when the Lorax’s predictions come true who can restore the land to its former glory?

This beloved fable about the dangers of corporate greed is adapted for stage by director Max Webster (James and the Giant Peach) and David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,Adventures of Tintin) and will feature colourful theatre, songs, and Dr. Seuss’s trademark wacky humour. Featuring music by Noah and the Whale frontman Charlie Fink, The Lorax is guaranteed to be a big show about a little critter!

The Lorax will open on 2nd December 2015 at the Old Vic and will run until 16th January 2016.
