What is Dr. Strangelove about?Stanley Kubrick’s film is a weird and wonderful take on the Cold War era. What if a rogue US General went mad with paranoia and pressed the nuclear button? What happens in the ensuing international crisis?
Kubrick’s jet-black satire Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb first premiered on screen in 1964, starring Peter Sellers in the three main roles, and has remained a classic of the genre ever since. With its distinctive monochrome style and sharp look at the politics and power struggles, its timeless story feels pertinent even in the 21st century.
Steve Coogan in Dr. StrangeloveSteve Coogan stars in Dr. Strangelove on stage, and is ready to make his mark with a tour-de-force performance of multiple starkly different characters - just like Peter Sellers did in the original film.
Coogan is best known for his impeccable comic timing as socially inept alter-ego Alan Partridge in The Day Today, On The Hour and other mini-series. His other work includes the BAFTA Award-winning film Philomena and biopic Stan & Ollie.
