    Sadler's Wells

Award-winning choreographer Lloyd Newson brings his ground-breaking show Enter Achilles back to London. Catch this brilliantly realised exploration of masculinity at Sadler's Wells from 26 May 2020.

Ground-breaking physical theatre production Enter Achilles returns to the UK in a new staging co-produced by Sadler’s Wells and Rambert. Set over a beer-soaked and testosterone-fuelled night at a British pub, it remains devastatingly relevant 25 years after it first premiered.

    Where is it showing?

Enter Achilles is playing at Sadler’s Wells as part of the venue’s 2020 season.

    When does it open?

The show opens for a limited 12-day run on 26 May 2020.

    What is it about?

Enter Achilles is a sharp and shocking confrontation of gender through the lens of British pub culture. As eight men gather at their local, pints in hand, insecurities are revealed, fights are started and the stereotypes of modern masculinity are torn apart.

Performed with deft and imaginative choreography, Enter Achilles was a game-changer when it first tore onto stages in 1995 and is now considered a landmark example of physical theatre.

    Who is the creative team?

Enter Achilles is devised and choreographed by Lloyd Newson - the Director of Helpmann Award-winning Australian company DV8 Physical Theatre - and his company of eight performers. This reworking of the show is presented in collaboration with internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company Rambert.

Newson is joined by creative associate Hannes Langolf, composer Adrian Johnston and set designer Ian MacNeil.

    How long is it?
