Guitarist, composer, dramatist and producer Paco Peña has changed perceptions and evolved the art form of flamenco in a career that spans over five decades and has astounded audiences across the globe.
Stripped back in design, this raw and passionate production removes all artifice between audience and performer. Peña’s captivating performance is both the search for and the story of flamenco’s elusive ‘duende’ - an ephemeral moment of alchemy between interpreter and audience, able to transport them into a mysterious state of emotion.
London Flamenco Festival star Ángel Múñoz returns to captivate audiences with his lightning footwork and sensual rhythms, while Charo Espino and Yolanda Osuna complete the trio of dancers.
The dancers are accompanied by a divine set of live instrumentalists, 2 singers, 1 percussionist and 3 guitarists, including the exquisite Peña himself.
The fusion of score and movement are augmented by the beautiful and subtly stylised costume design provided by Linda Rowell and Elvira Peña, with lighting design by Tom Wickens.
This powerful, emotive production returns to the Sadler’s Well’ stage for a limited run from the 8th to 12th August 2017.
