London Palladium

Harry Hill’s hilarious new musical comedy blasts into the West End’s London Palladium. I Can’t Sing! is the side-splitting spectacular based on TV’s hit show The X-Factor. Following small-time girl Chenice, who stumbles into the audition queue, I Can’t Sing! leaps into a ridiculous world of fame, fortune and love.

BAFTA-winning comedian Harry Hill pens an entirely new musical based on the nation’s favourite television programme The X Factor. Delving into the talent show’s bonkers backstage trysts and leaping behind the judge’s desks, I Can’t Sing! is an innovative musical comedy which is set to premiere at the London Palladium.

Directed by Sean Foley (The Play What I Wrote, The Ladykillers, Jeeves & Wooster), I Can’t Sing! follows Chenice, who is the only girl in the world to never have heard of The X Factor. When she accidentally stumbles into the audition queue, along with her dog Barlow, she embarks on a journey of love, heartache and fame. Along the way she meets several competitive contestants with varying degrees of ability, the infamous, insane judges and Max, a handsome young ukulele player and part-time plumber. I Can’t Sing! is an irreverent and mischievous night out, which reveals why audiences flock to watch the singing spectacular.

WhatsOnStage Award-winner Nigel Harman stars as supremo Simon Cowell, alongside Cynthia Erivo, as the charming Chenice. Harman is best-known for his stints in EastEnders and Downton Abbey, but has since moved to wow West End audiences. His extensive theatre credits include Shrek the Musical, A Chorus of Disapproval, Guys and Dolls, Mamma Mia! and Tommy. Erivo has received rave reviews for her performance in The Color Purple, and has also appeared in the UK tour of Sister Act the Musical. The pair are joined by Ashley Knight (Ghost the Musical) as Louis, Victoria Elliot as Jordy, Simon Bailey as Liam O’Deary, Alan Morrissey as Max, Simon Lipkin (Avenue Q, Rock of Ages) as Barlow and Joe Speare as Grandad. Further cast members include Katy Secombe, Charlie Baker, Shaun Smith and Rowen Hawkins.

I Can’t Sing! features 19 new songs by award-winning composer Steve Brown, with choreography by Katie Prince and set design by Es Devlin. Songs include “If That’s Not Entertainment”, “Please Simon”, “I Can’t Sing”, “X-Factor Fever”, “Falling in Love with Myself” and “X-Tasy”, amongst many others. A night of outrageous entertainment, I Can’t Sing! is a silly, spectacular and song-filled sensation, packing plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
