Ian McKellen On Stage Tickets

Harold Pinter Theatre

Ian McKellen brings reminiscences of a life in acting to the West End this Autumn. Join him as he regales audiences with tales of Middle Earth and Shakespeare in Ian McKellen On Stage, at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 20 September.

After stopping off in cities from Lancashire to the Midlands, Ian McKellen brings his 80th birthday career retrospective to the West End. Ian McKellen On Stage with Shakespeare, Tolkien, Others and You opens this Autumn at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

This celebratory one-man show offers audiences a real treat. Starting with his Academy Award nominated Middle Earth character Gandalf, McKellen invites us on a half-century long journey through some of his most iconic work. Expect plenty of anecdotes from behind the curtains, and the chance to join one of our greatest living thesps on stage for a spot of acting yourself. In keeping with the rest of his 2019 tour, profits from the Harold Pinter run will be donated to theatre charities.

McKellen himself needs little introduction; since his professional stage debut at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre in A Man for All Seasons (1961), he has starred in a multitude of plays, films and television series. To the wider public, he is perhaps best known as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Magneto in the X-Men film franchise, although his stage credits are also near-unmatched. He counts 11 Olivier Awards nominations to his name, and has won five times, most recently for Richard III in 1991. His last West End performance was just last year, as he conquered King Lear at the Duke of York's Theatre.

Whether you’re a comic book fan or a Shakespeare devotee, Ian McKellen On Stage at the Harold Pinter Theatre is sure to be an engaging and utterly incomparable evening out. The West End run opens its doors on 20 September.
