About the show

The renowned National Youth Music Theatre’s newest commission Imaginary arrives in the West End from August 2017. A moving, funny and inspiring tale of growing up, this enchanting production plays a limited run at The Other Palace in summer 2017.

Imaginary follows the friendship of our hero Sam and his only friend Milo. The excitable and imaginative duo embark on a new adventure together in the form of Sam’s first day at secondary school. But as this important milestone approaches, Sam’s loving mother begins to worry that Milo is holding him back.

When school begins the boys’ worlds are turned on their heads, as a painful revelation threatens to change their lives forever. This funny, emotive story explores the joy of childhood and the anxiety of growing up.

The book for the production is written by playwright and novelist Timothy Knapman with music and lyrics by performer and composer Stuart Matthew Price.

Founded in 1976, the National Youth Music Theatre offers exceptional opportunities in pre-professional, musical theatre training for talented young people aged 10 to 23 years. The company has a long history of nurturing emergent talent and brings hundreds of young performers to professional stages every year.

This moving tale plays a limited run at The Other Palace from the 9th to 12th August 2017.
