Legendary director Trevor Nunn brings a dazzling revival of Tony Award-winning Broadway classic Kiss Me, Kate to the London stage. Following a hugely successful run at Chichester Festival Theatre, Kiss Me, Kate transfers to the Old Vic Theatre. Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, this well-known musical plays for a limited time only, until March 2013.

Using a popular show within a show format, Kiss Me, Kate follows a theatre company trying out a musical version of the classic Shakespeare tale. Fred Graham and Lilli Vanessi were once married and now have to perform as the fated Katherina and Petruchio. Already at war with each other, the pair launch into an emotional tirade mid-performance, which threatens the show’s success! All that holds it together are threats from a pair of gangsters who have come to collect a gambling debt from the play’s Lucentio. True to form, chaos and slapstick hilarity ensues!

Kiss Me, Kate includes a 35 strong cast, including Alex Bourne as Fred, Hannah Waddingham as Lilli, David Burt as Gangster 1, Adam Garcia as Bill and Clive Rowe as Gangster 2. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, Kiss Me, Kate has one of musical theatre’s most beloved scores, featuring show-stopping numbers such as “Too Darn Hot”, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”, “Another Show” and “So In Love Am I”.

Directed by Trevor Nunn (Cats, Les Miserables), this sizzling revival of Kiss Me, Kate is choreographed by Stephen Mear (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), with design by Robert Jones and lighting design by Tim Mitchell. A sensationally slick revival of a hugely popular musical, Kiss Me, Kate is the award-winning classic opening at the Old Vic Theatre.
