A glorious revival of an iconic showThe best of times are at Regent’s Park this summer! The theatre’s season centrepiece is a fresh revival of Harvey Fierstein’s popular musical La Cage aux Folles.
Georges is the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub famous for drag entertainment, his partner Albin is the club’s major attraction, and his son Jean-Michel is engaged to be married. Everything seems to be going well… until future daughter-in-law Anne’s strictly conservative parents ask to meet up.
Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly!) and Harvey Fierstein's (Torch Song Trilogy) La Cage aux Folles is one of the most groundbreaking musicals of the 20th century, and the first Broadway hit to centre a gay couple on the stage. It delights with farcical humour, sharp observations and an uplifting tale of family, all set to show-stopper songs including “I Am What I Am”.
