Matilda's parents dislike their daughter, who'd much rather read a book than watch television all day, and at school the child-hating Miss Trunchbull keeps students and teachers in line with terrifying threats. When Matilda meets the gentle Miss Honey, who encourages her love of reading and keen curiosity, she decides that being a little bit naughty is worth it to get back at the bullies.

Who wrote Matilda the Musical?

Playwright Dennis Kelly and comedian and musician Tim Minchin collaborated to write the show, which is adapted from Roald Dahl's popular children's book. Kelly wrote the book, with Minchin creating original music and lyrics for the show.
