Lindsay Posner directs Michael Frayn’s Olivier Award-winning farce Noises Off in the Old Vic Theatre’s transfer to the West End’s Novello Theatre. Following the hapless antics of a touring theatre company, who are endeavouring to put on a top-class production, Noises Off is the side-splitting play that has received rave reviews throughout its run at the Old Vic. Starring Celia Imrie, Jonathan Coy, Janie Dee and Robert Glenister, this riotous revival opens for a limited season beginning in March 2012.

Michael Frayn’s Olivier and Tony Award-winning comedy Noises Off transfers to the West End’s Novello Theatre, following a record-breaking, sell-out run at London’s Old Vic Theatre. Originally premiering at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1982, Noises Off is the riotous play-within-a-play about the barmy backstage antics and shambolic opening night of a touring theatre company. Featuring an all-star cast, Lindsay Posner’s side-splitting revival plays a limited season from March 2012.

Noises Off is the outrageous farce that hurtles at breakneck speed through disastrous dress rehearsals, rickety relationships and marvellous mishaps! A traditional farce, Noises Off is set across three acts, with the first following a hopeless dress rehearsal, rife with missed cues, dropped lines and props with a life of their own! Act Two takes place backstage of the disastrous Wednesday matinee, which sends relationships into turmoil. As tensions reach a climax, Act Three sees the plot of their play abandoned entirely in favour of some dubious ad-libbing. With a whole load of misunderstandings, arguments and accidents, Noises Off is the ultimate slapstick comedy!

Jonathan Coy (The Bill, Downton Abbey) stars as Frederick Fellowes, opposite acclaimed actresses Celia Imrie as Dotty Otley and Janie Dee as Belinda Blair. Imrie is well-known for her extensive on screen appearances, including Acorn Antiques, Dinner Ladies, Bridget Jones’s Diary, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and St Trinian’s, amongst many others. Janie Dee is a veteran of the stage, with countless stage credits including Show Boat, Carousel and Mack & Mabel. Further cast members include Robert Glenister (Hustle, Spooks) as Lloyd Dallas, Jamie Glover as Roger Tramplemain, Alice Bailey Johnson as Poppy Norton-Taylor, Karl Johnson as Selsdon Mowbray, Lucy Briggs-Owen as Brooke Aston and Paul Ready as Tim Allgood.

Directed by Lindsay Posner, Noises Off features design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by Paul Pyant, sound design by Fergus O’Hare and movement by Kate Waters, with original music by Michael Bruce. Exploring the explosive relationships that can lead to hapless shenanigans both on and off stage, Noises Off is the acclaimed Old Vic Theatre production, transferring to London’s Novello Theatre for a strictly limited run.
