English National Ballet brings a family favourite back for Christmas with Nutcracker Delights at the London Coliseum. This newly-conceived staging of the classic ballet’s best moments opens on 3 December.
English National Ballet’s The Nutcracker has been a stalwart of Christmas theatre in London since 1950. In 2020, this festive treat returns in a unique, COVID secure form for Nutcracker Delights at the London Coliseum.
The newly-conceived production is a toy box of delights showcasing the ballet’s best-loved moments. Dancers and live musicians will take audiences on a whirlwind journey to the Land of Snow, stopping off to admire the Sugar Plum Fairy and cheer for Clara’s battle against the dastardly Mouse King.
The Nutcracker is based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and features a famous score by Tchaikovsky. For Nutcracker Delights, the production will feature a smaller cast than usual, but still deliver the soaring sugar-rush of the full length classic.
The Nutcracker’s whimsical costumes and breath-taking choreography enchant audiences each year and Nutcracker Delights is continuing the tradition. This magical ballet runs at the London Coliseum from 3 December 2020.
