    National Theatre - Lyttelton

Janet McTeer stars in director Simon Stone’s (Yerma) thrilling new version of the epic Greek tragedy about lust, loneliness and power.

    The epic Greek tragedy reimagined

Janet McTeer stars as tragic heroine Phaedra at the National Theatre, in a thrilling new production from Simon Stone (Yerma). The Greek tragedy is a compelling and fierce story of desire and power.

Phaedra has spent years with a single-minded focus on her political career, but it is time to turn her attention to her personal life. When a figure from her past reappears, her entire belief system - the root of her power and success - is shaken to its core.

Seneca’s famous tragedy is reimagined in a striking new play by writer-director Simon Stone, whose radical production of Yerma, starring Billie Piper, enthralled London audiences in 2016.

Olivier Award winner Janet McTeer leads the cast of Phaedra in London. Her extensive credits include Ozark and Bernhardt/Hamlet. The cast also includes Assaad Bouab (Call My Agent) in his London stage debut, Paul Chahidi, and Mackenzie Davis.

Lust and loneliness are a toxic, devastating cocktail in this must-see show. Book Phaedra tickets to experience a masterful new staging of a classic.
