Jodie Comer makes West End debut in legal thriller

BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning actress Jodie Comer makes her West End debut in the UK premiere of Suzie Miller’s thriller Prima Facie at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Tessa is a working-class, young and brilliant barrister, who has risen through the ranks of her profession against the odds by prosecuting and cross-examining at the top of her game. However, an unexpected event turns her life upside down and forces her to confront the traditional patriarchal power of the law, the burden of proof and her own moral compass.

Suzie Miller is a former lawyer turned playwright and screenwriter. Her gripping one-woman play will be directed by Justin Martin (The Jungle).

Jodie Comer is best known for her starring role in the multi-award-winning TV series Killing Eve. She most recently starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in the summer blockbuster Free Guy.

Wow - Jodie Comer in her West End debut is simply outstanding. This for me could be the performance of the year. The way she commands the stage, moves the staging around and encapsulates the whole performance in just under 2 hours is mesmerising. There was a full standing ovation at the end - it's a performance that will stay with me for a very long time.

From the opening seconds to the closing moments, Jodie gave her all to her performance in Prima Facie, and I expected nothing less. The script, and Jodie, reel you in with humour and light touches before taking a drastic turn and leaves you on the brink of forgetting that she's actually acting. A thought-provoking and emotional play with an important message.

I was left speechless, Jodie comer the actress had me captivated from the start, her journey or emotions, the pain. The realness. The set, design, direction the show was 1000/1000 . I would highly recommend. I’d love too see it again.

Jodie Comer was brilliant the structure of the play really emphasised the devastating effects of rape and the difficulties a victim faces from the authorities in getting justice. Although there are relief moments, a degree of comedy in what I would call the first half, it was a very emotional 2nd half and both myself and the lady next to me were in tears at the end. Quite rightly Jodie got a standing ovation for what was an extremely powerful performance. It was great theatre, about a difficult and constantly current problem.

A seriously thought provoking piece. Clever writing, direction and a performance second to none. This is theatre at its best, taking an injustice in British society and challenging the status quo, campaigning for change. This is how to protect womens rights - so important when they are being eroded at other theatres nearby.

Utterly transfixed throughout. Amazing writing, beautifully performed by Dani Arlington. Worth more than one visit for the script alone. Should be mandatory viewing for eveyone - particularly in the House of Men behaving badly.
