Award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup delivers a brand new work for Rambert dance company at London’s Sadler’s Wells, featuring a full-size symphony orchestra and enchanting choreography. Life is a Dream is a tale of revenge and reconciliation that brings an other-worldly atmosphere to the stage.

After the huge success of Transfigured Night, multi-Olivier Award-winning Danish choreographer Kim Brandstrup creates a brand new work for Rambert dance company. Playing a limited season at Sadler’s Wells, Life is a Dream is commissioned by Bergen International Festival and brings to life the enthralling story of a dream-like world.

Rambert – Life is a Dream sees a man gain a single day of complete freedom, after a lifetime of incarceration. Based on the 17th century play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, the story sees the lines between reality and illusion blurred, as the legendary filmmaking Quay Brothers place the action firmly in a fantasy world.

A tale of revenge and reconciliation, Life is a Dream is brought to life alongside an enchanting full-size symphony orchestra, with the harmonious melodies of Witold Lutosławski’s music. The production features choreography by Kim Brandstrup (Goldberg – The Brandstrup-Rojo Project), design by the Quay Brothers and lighting design by Jean Kalman.

Rambert is the award-winning dance company that has presented popular works across the world, including Ghost Dances, A Linha Curva and Symbiosis. The company is Britain’s oldest working company and has collaborated with well-known creatives including Siobhan Davies and Christopher Bruce.

Premiering at Sadler’s Wells before embarking on a tour to Bergen International Festival, Norway, Rambert – Life is a Dream plays a limited London season. The production runs from 22 to 26 May 2018.
