An exciting new multi-generation drama

Leading Black British Theatre Company, Talawa, brings an exciting debut play about grief, joy and family reconciliation to the Lyric Hammersmith.

After a loved one passes away, a British-Caribbean family struggles to connect whilst grieving. As generational and cultural beliefs go up against faith and mental health, each family member is caught between things left unsaid. 

Running With Lions is the first play from exciting new talent, Sian Carter, based on her BBC Radio 4 audioplay of the same name. Michael Buffong, Artistic Director of Talawa Theatre Company, directs. 

Talawa is the UK’s leading Black British Theatre Company, with previous successful productions including King Lear starring Don Warrington, and Guys and Dolls at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.

The cast features Suzette Llewellyn as Shirley, Ruby Barker as Imani, Velile Tshabalala as Gloria, Wil Johnson as Maxwell and Nickcolia King-N'da as Joshua.
