Swan Lake is the enduring love story of a Princess transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer who has their eyes set on a Prince. Soon, the beautiful swan also falls in love with a Prince whilst he is hunting. When the Prince’s mother pressures him to choose a wife, the sorcerer exploits this for his own advantage, and the young lovers, in their desperation, decide to take control of their fates.
Celebrated prima ballerina Irina Kolesnikova leads the company of dancers, selected from the best companies around the world. Kolesnikova has starred in several St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre productions, enjoying the role of prima ballerina since the age of 21. Denis Rodkin joins her onstage, accompanied by a live orchestra, elaborate sets and stunning costumes, making this ballet a feast for the senses.
Originally founded in 1994 by Konstantin Tachkin, the renowned dance company has a host of productions in its repertoire, including famous ballets Giselle, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Her Name Was Carmen and more.
With a limited 7 performances playing at the West End’s London Coliseum, St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre company’s heralded production of Swan Lake plays at the venue from 22 August to 26 August 2018.
