Royal Albert Hall

Matthew Bourne’s spectacular dance production is thrillingly reimagined for the Royal Albert Hall’s 150th anniversary celebration.

A spectacular new staging of Bourne’s dance-thriller

Buckle up at the Royal Albert Hall as Matthew Bourne’s multi-award-winning The Car Man arrives in a thrilling new staging to celebrate the venue’s 150th anniversary.

Based on Bizet’s Carmen, The Car Man is a dance-thriller spectacular which transports the classic opera’s story to a grease-slicked garage and diner in 1960s America. One small town’s dreams are torn apart when a handsome stranger arrives, and the townspeople soon descend into a frenzied spiral of greed, desire, backstabbing and revenge.

Developed by dance titan Matthew Bourne and his company New Adventures, The Car Man at the Royal Albert Hall features an expanded company of 65 dancers and musicians and a live orchestra. It is completely reimagined to fill the gladiatorial venue, with dancers performing throughout the auditorium.
