What is it about?The Drifters Girl offers a new take on the popular jukebox musical genre, inviting audiences behind the scenes of a trailblazing manager who drove her clients to the top of the charts. Faye Treadwell was the first African American female manager and a legendary figure at Atlantic Records, where she spent decades fighting for The Drifters’ place in music history.
From dizzying success to personal tragedy and legal battles, The Drifters Girl pays tribute to Treadwell’s tenacity and commitment to a group she loved, all set to a soundtrack of the hits she helped create - including “Save the Last Dance for Me”, “Under the Boardwalk” and “Stand By Me”.
Who is in it?Internationally-acclaimed singer Beverley Knight stars as Faye Treadwell, returning to the West End stage for the first time since The Bodyguard in 2016. Knight is a three-time MOBO Award winner whose hits include “Come As You Are” and “Get Up!”
