Best Seats

SeatPlan Recommends: Due to the very high stage used for The Drifters Girl, seats in the Dress Circle offer the best overall view of the show. The full width and depth of the stage is used and therefore, due to the curved nature of the auditorium, seats towards the end of the rows will have some restrictions during the show. Choose seats as close to the centre as possible for the clearest view.

Story of the Drifters and truth about the women who made them, Faye Treadwell the legendary manage of the Drifters. Amazing soundtrack of some of the most iconic songs. Acting was well done and some powerful singing of some of the greatest songs in history. Beverly Knight was fabulous

Lots of songs you will know, good costumes and all the drifters were great good singers and dancers, Matt Henry was stand out, Beverley Knight was excellent, shes got some pipes on her, a really under appreiciated artist in my opinion always excellent, the show did seem to borrow from both Tina and Jersey Boys stylisticly but doesnt detract from a great show

This is a fantastic show. I have seen it several times. It has everything in it that I want from a musical. I was surprised how many of the songs that I knew. The casting was excellent as were the vocals. I also enjoyed the humour that was injected into it throughout. Really good all round feel good factor musical. I highly recommend seeing it.

This musical is based on the true story of the woman behind the 1950s-1970s American R&B/Soul group, The Drifters, told as a backstory tale by Faye Treadwell (née Johnson) to her daughter. After her husband dies suddenly, Faye buys out his partners and takes control of The Drifters. Being a black woman did not come without its challenges for Faye, and she fought many legal battles over the rights to The Drifters’ name, as well as hitting walls of racism and sexism. The highs with the string of hit records, were met with the lows of turmoil and changes. The cast is made up of six people, with the four male leads playing various characters throughout the show. A change of jacket, the addition of a hat, or even a simple prop denoted they were playing a different role. The use of various accents bought much humour, as they were often ‘hammed up’, as was the case with the male actors also having to play some minor, female roles. The soundtrack was fantastic; and boy, can each of this cast belt out a tune. The two stand out songs for me were “Stand By Me” and “Harlem Girl”. The drama bought by the fast pace from everyone, as well as the constant change in characters was phenomenal. But it was the pure energy, and intense emotion that was bought to the stage that made this show electric. I will definitely keep an eye out for these actors names appearing in any future shows as, disappointingly, The Drifters Girl is closing mid-October. The staging, although quite simple, looked very powerful throughout the show; and that was largely due to the clever use of lighting.

The songs and performers are fantastic, the staging is simple and innovative and the story flows well. The story itself is a bit weak so it's definitely one to view for the songs. Some audience singing was annoying but not too bad on a weekday, probably worse on a weekend.

Fantastic show. This was my second time seeing it. From the introduction it had me hooked and the hits just kept coming. Very funny amongst the serious story along with sadness. Completely had my attention throughout. Highly recommend seeing it. Perfect show for all to see
