The Gruffalo Tickets

Lyric Theatre

Tall Stories brought their exciting adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s award-winning The Gruffalo to the stage. When Mouse takes a journey into the forest, he encounters many scary animals that want to eat him for dinner, so he tells them the tale of the mythical Gruffalo. What Mouse doesn’t realise is that he may come face to face with the beast itself!

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book was brought to life on stage in a musical adaptation by Tall Stories. The Gruffalo had played to sell-out audiences all over the world and promised to be the perfect introduction to the theatre for even the youngest of Gruffalo fans.

Follow Mouse in a journey into the dark wood in search of food. Along the way, Mouse meets Owl, Fox and Snake. In order to stay off their dinner plates, Mouse distracts them with the tale of the Gruffalo, never dreaming of coming face-to-face with the mythical beast!

This popular show was based on former children's Laureate Julia Donaldson’s book of the same name which is just one in a collection of well-loved stories, including 'The Gruffalo's Child', ‘Room on a Broom’, ‘The Snail and the Whale’ and ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’. Inspiration for the set of The Gruffalo is taken from Axel Scheffler’s iconic illustrations that feature in the original picture book.

Since its first outing in 2001, The Gruffalo had toured worldwide, with acclaimed runs in London, Asia, the Sydney Opera House and even Broadway. With just a 55 minute running time, and packed with comedy, music, physical theatre and fun, The Gruffalo was designed with mini attention spans in mind and promises to keep young theatre-goers entertained.

Tall Stories are an exciting company that set the benchmark for children’s theatre. With co-Artistic Director Olivia Jacobs at the helm directing this production, The Gruffalo was a perfect example of storytelling for young people – with hilarious characters and just the right amount of scary bits!
