The Madness of George III follows the sympathetic story of the third Hanoverian monarch of Great Britain, who had a string of accomplishments to his name. King George III was responsible for founding the Royal Academy of Arts, fathered fifteen children and was a strong advocate of science, literature and music. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, George III is remembered for enduring bouts of unbridled lunacy. With the appalling medical treatments of the day, he was regularly subjected to physical pain in the name of curing, and had to deal with a power struggle with his scheming son.
Featuring a stellar cast, The Madness of George III stars Olivier Award-winning actor David Haig in the title role. Haig has an immense number of stage and screen credits to his name, including Our Country’s Good, Loot, Mary Poppins and Yes, Prime Minister.
