Relocated to Edwardian London, Nutcracker sees Clara’s family host a party on Christmas Eve. An old friend of the family arrives bearing gifts, including a Nutcracker doll for Clara that she finds particularly charming. Her dreams that night are filled with epic battles, grand adventures and a handsome soldier. They come to life with beautiful dancing and stunning design, perfect for Christmas-time.
This incredible production has toured across the UK and London for many years, continuously delighting tens of thousands of audience members. Choreographed by the acclaimed Wayne Eagling and originally conceived alongside Toer van Schayk, Nutcracker features design by Peter Farmer, lighting design by David Richardson and music by Tchaikovsky.
Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, em>The Nutcracker started life as an adaptation of E. T. A Hoffman’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse which was later adapted by Alexander Dumas. The traditional Christmas story is updated for London, but still honours the original story and music.
Undoubtedly one of the most exciting shows of the festive season, the English National Ballet’s Nutcracker plays a limited run at the London Coliseum, running from 13 December to 30 December 2018.
