The Ocean at the End of the Lane: From Book to Stage

Neil Gaiman’s (Stardust; Coraline) fantastic imagination is realised on stage with remarkable physical theatre, by an award-winning creative team including director Katy Rudd, set designer Fly Davis, costume and puppet designer Samuel Wyer and movement director Steven Hoggett.

The National Theatre’s Olivier Award-winning adaptation has bewitched thousands of theatregoers since 2019, and its previous West End season was extended twice due to huge demand. Most incredible of all are the shape-shifting creatures, created via puppetry, that linger and roar across the stage. The fantastic touring cast brings The Ocean at the End of the Lane back to London, including Charlie Brooks as Ursula. Brooks is best known as EastEnders villainess Janine Butcher and is just as compelling on stage in a performance that creates “a sense of malevolence” that “she does with chilling glee” (I Love Manchester).

The cast also includes Keir Ogilvy as Boy, Millie Hikasa as Lettie, Trevor Fox as Dad, Kemi-Bo Jacobs as Ginnie and Finty Williams as Old Mrs Hempstock.
