Set sail to an island inhabited by magic and mischief as Shakespeare’s tumultuous late comedy The Tempest returns to the Globe Theatre this summer.

When a mighty storm hits, Antonio and his crew are shipwrecked and separated on a seemingly uninhabited island. As the castaways attempt to reunite, banished magician Prospero watches from afar. Antonio is the brother who usurped him and cast him out, and he is determined to get his revenge.

Shakespeare’s magical play conjures a remarkable story of manipulation, vengeance and redemption, as Prospero orders the islands’ inhabitants - now his servants - to help him exact his personal form of justice.

The Tempest is one of Shakespeare’s last recorded works as a playwright. It features enthralling monologues and a cast of shapeshifting characters including the spirit Ariel and the enslaved Caliban.

This new production is thrillingly realised by the Globe Ensemble and directed by Sean Holmes (Shakespeare’s Globe: Twelfth Night; A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
