Tickets for Treason the Musical On Sale Now

Remember, remember, the fifth of November… relive the story of the Gunpowder Plot with thrilling musical Treason at Alexandra Palace Theatre this autumn! This stunning new musical is an atmospheric treat and after two sold-out concerts at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, heads to North London’s most famous historic venue for its world premiere fully-staged production.

Treason the Musical Plot

It is 1605, and a group led by Robert Catesby are planning the most daring assassination attempt in history. When King James I opens parliament, an explosion will kill him and usher in a new era.

That’s the plan, but as history tells us, it didn’t work out quite like that…

This unforgettable musical immerses audiences in one of British history’s most explosive and intriguing stories, with folk and pop-inspired music following the characters as their conspiracy unfolds.

The Explosive Journey of Treason the Musical

This is one of the hottest new musicals to come out of the UK in recent years, and it has only just received a full staging! The show first sparked to life in 2020, when a 5-track EP was released, featuring vocals from Rosalie Craig and Hadley Fraser. To date, the EP has been streamed over 450,000 times.

A streamed one-act concert performance followed in 2021, starring Lucie Jones, Bradley Jaden and Oliver Tompsett, and in August 2022 two in-person concert performances ran at Theatre Royal Drury Lane to huge acclaim.

After six weeks of workshops, the staged production was announced, opening in Edinburgh before heading to Sheffield and London. Booking tickets for its Ally Pally run is an exciting prospect, as you can be one of the first theatregoers to see the show in its full glory.

Treason the Musical Cast and Creatives

Ricky Allen is the mastermind behind the musical, having written the book, music and lyrics for what critics are already calling an “iridescent” (The Guardian) production. Full cast and creatives are to be confirmed, but the concerts featured some of the West End’s biggest names, including Lucie Jones, Oliver Tompsett and Carrie Hope Fletcher.

Treason has clear influences from Hamilton, Harry Potter and the cursed child, and a bit of Book of Mormon. Ensemble moved to the choreography of Hamilton, along with stage set up and clearing seeing chairs lifted slowly overhead. Saw a few familiar Read more

It was entertaining but not very memorable. The songs were a bit forgettable and there was no big number or repeated melody to tie it all together. The singing, dancing and acting were very good and the staging was excellent; I just think the product Read more
