Decadent, hedonistic and devastating, Cabaret is one of the most famous musicals of all time. It is Weimar Era Berlin, and In the Kit Kat Club the Emcee presides over evenings of hedonistic entertainment. As the club’s star attraction, Sally Bowles, strikes up a relationship with American writer Cliff Bradshaw, unrest is building in the streets. The Nazis are slowly coming into power and freedom is at stake.Cabaret is a rollercoaster of emotions that depicts the dizzying highs of life in inter-war Berlin, and the threat of fascism that cast a larger and larger shadow over its citizens. In this stunning immersive production, audiences can enter a completely reconfigured theater space, enjoy a drink, and feel as if they really have stepped into Berlin’s most infamous club, right off the streets of NYC.
This striking revival premiered in London in 2021 and was an immediate hit with audiences and critics. It won seven prestigious Olivier Awards, including Best Musical Revival.
What songs are in Cabaret?
Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret score is timeless and features some of the best musical theater songs of all time. From the iconic titular song “Cabaret” to the bewildering and entertaining “Willkommen”, the musical delights are non-stop and the show even won the Tony Award for Best Original Score when it premiered on Broadway back in 1967.Other numbers in the show include the cheeky and riotous “Don’t Tell Mama”, the standout emotional number “Maybe This Time”, and the daunting “Tomorrow Belongs to Me” that kicks in as the influence of Nazi power creeps into the show.
Who is in the Cabaret Broadway Cast?
Olivier Award-winning director Rebecca Frecknall’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club caught London theatergoers’ attention with its sumptuous set design and compelling immersive experience and kept it with incredible star casting for the roles of Sally and the Emcee. Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley starred in its initial season, with a number of acclaimed stage and screen stars replacing them over the following months.Casting is to be confirmed for Cabaret on Broadway, but expect some impressive names to be attached.
