Book of Mormon co-stars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells are back together in a hilarious musical about putting on a show.

Don’t Miss Gutenberg the Musical Tickets

Twelve years is long enough… it’s time for The Book of Mormon’s Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells to get back together! The comic duo returns to Broadway for hilarious Gutenberg! The Musical at the James Earl Jones Theatre this Fall. It’s a show they just couldn’t resist: a hilarious musical about a hilarious musical!

What is Gutenberg! The Musical about?

Bud and Doug are best pals who really, really love each other. They love each other so much, they want to put on a show together. It’s going to be great - a proper life imitating art moment! Even better, it’s the funniest thing on Broadway since 1448.

We know that doesn’t make sense. Broadway didn’t exist in 1448. But the printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg that year, and that’s the subject of the musical that Bud and Doug are writing… it’ll all become clear if you watch, but it might not all go to plan.

Gutenberg! The Musical is a fun, loud celebration of putting on a show, and all the foolish urges and pitfalls that come with it. Nothing matters if you’re doing it with someone you love, though, right? It first opened Off-Broadway back in 2006, and is written by Scott Brown and Anthony King, the Tony Award-winning team behind the Beetlejuice musical. It is directed by Alex Timbers, who also directed Beetlejuice and Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells in Gutenberg Musical

It’s been a long time, but Tony Award nominees and former The Book of Mormon costars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannalls are finally back together on Broadway. Both are known for their impeccable comic timing and eye for the absurd, and there is no project better for their reunion than the zany, mile-a-minute Gutenberg! The Muscial.

Josh Gad is known for voicing the cheery snowman Olaf in Disney’s Frozen movie, and also played Le Fou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast. Andrew Rannalls’ credits include The Boys in the Band, Hamilton, Tammy Faye (Almeida Theatre London) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

They were both nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for their work on The Book of Mormon.
