Location

The Lucille Lortel Theatre's location at 121 Christopher Street places it at the center of West Village, which is itself part of Greenwich Village. This NYC neighborhood built a reputation as an artistic hub, but it is best known as the home of the Stonewall Inn, a major site in LGBTQ+ history. Central Manhattan is a few stops away on the bus or subway, but an afternoon exploring West Village is worth it. Start at the Stonewall National Monument, spot the Friends apartment on Bedford Street, and enjoy refreshments at the home of the cappuccino Caffe Reggio, or Pasticceria Rocco for fresh cannoli.

Subway

The nearest subway station is Christopher Street on the 1 and 2 lines. To reach the venue from here, walk along Christopher Street, heading away from 7th Avenue, for two minutes.

West 4 St/Washington Square, on the A, C, E, B, D, F and M lines, is a six-minute walk from Lucille Lortel Theatre. Head along Waverley Place towards Gay Street, then turn left onto Christopher Street and walk past 7th Avenue and Bleeker Street.

Bus

Getting a bus to the Lortel Theatre is very easy, as the M8 and M20 Uptown buses both stop just past the venue at Christopher Street and Hudson Street. It is a minute’s walk to the theater from here; head along Christopher Street, away from Hudson Street.

Car

There are several parking garages close to the Lucille Lortel Theatre including Icon Parking at 350 Bleeker Street, a two-minute walk away via Christopher Street; and City Parking - Greenwich Street Garage at 641 Washington Street, four minutes away via Christopher Street. West Village has many clubs and bars, and it is usually easy to arrange a taxi drop off outside the venue or nearby.
