Moulin Rouge! The Musical tickets

Originally premiering at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre to critical acclaim, the stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s classic musical jukebox film Moulin Rouge! opens in New York this spring. A theatrical extravaganza full of pop hits, Moulin Rouge! The Musical will dazzle theatergoers at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Set in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris at the turn of the 20th century, Moulin Rouge! The Musical invites audiences into a world of excess and grandeur, where bohemians mingle with aristocrats and the champagne flows freely. Amidst the glamor and music of the famous Moulin Rouge dance hall, composer Christian and star chanteuse Satine become doomed lovers.

Ashley Loren and Derek Klena star as Satine and Christian.Moulin Rouge! The Musical features a book by Tony Award-winning playwright John Logan, whose other work includes Red and Peter and Alice for the stage, and The Aviator, Skyfall and Penny Dreadful for the screen. Director Alex Timbers (Rocky, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) pulls double duty on Broadway with his production of Beetlejuice also hugely popular. Emmy Award nominee and choreographer Sonya Tayeh and designer Dereck McLane are also part of the creative team.

With an updated playlist remixing the film’s soundtrack with 21st century pop classics, Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre celebrates truth, beauty, freedom and love in an enchanting theatrical celebration.

I was a bit skeptical going into this show, I’m not usually a big fan of jukebox musicals.. I was pleasantly surprised though! I quite liked it. The songs were catchy, the set was AMAZING, acting was good and singing was great. Some funny bits here and there and the end gave me some chills. It’s definitely better than I expected!

Show was a lot of fun, a spectacle show but very entertaining! Danny Bernstein is great as is Aaron Tveit. Unfortunately, didn’t get to see Karen Olivo but her standby was good. Traditional theater folks might not appreciate the fact that there is no original music.

Absolutely incredible show! I've never seen something quite like it. The entire cast blow the roof off the theatre and put so much into the performance it's breathtaking. Lighting, Set and Sound design takes the musical to another level. Honestly, it's a must-see masterpiece!!

This show is a spectacle from the moment you step into the auditorium, the set is outstanding and constantly surprises. As with the movie, much of the fun comes from the inclusion of popular songs - with even some of the dialogue coming from song lyrics.

Very good, but not great. Act 1 has some book issues which lost me in terms of compelling me to care about the characters and their objectives, which is certainly an issue in terms of the fact that it’s when they’re all introduced for the first time. But the entire show is certainly a spectacle and all of those moments live up to the hype. Karen Olivo and Aaron Tveit make a wonderful Satine and Christian. Bad Romance is one of the best Act 2 openers I have ever seen— and Act 2 for the record was very solid and super clean in terms of writing and seamlessness. If some of the writing was fixed in Act 1 for the scripted parts, it’s a pretty flawless show. Would see again!

What a treat! I was so excited that Aaron Tveit was still starring over 30 months after opening in 2019 (I mean yes there was a *break* but he was outstanding - as was the entire cast including a fabulous Ashley Loren as Satine).
