Come From Away Tickets
Multi-award-winning musical Come From Away plays at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre for a strictly limited season. Created by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical is directed by Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley and follows the remarkable true story of the 7,000 stranded passengers in Newfoundland at the time of 9/11.
A stunning new musical that has captured the hearts of audiences, Come From Away takes place in a small town in Newfoundland during the terrifying attacks. In the days following 9/11, when flights were grounded across the United States, Canada worked with the US Federal Aviation Authority to prevent further threats by routing planes through Canada.
As a result, 7,000 passengers were stranded in Newfoundland. With the population suddenly growing, the townsfolk come together to support the disorientated guests. New friendships form as hatred spreads across the world, as Come From Away proves that light can come on even the darkest of days.
Come From Away features a book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein and is directed by Tony Award-winner Christopher Ashley, whose Broadway credits include Memphis and The Rocky Horror Show. The production also features set design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley and sound design by Gareth Owen.
A Drama Desk Award-winning musical, the show has garnered fans from across the globe, and has already become wildly popular. With a book based on interview transcripts and some toe-tapping folk-style numbers, Come From Away runs at the Royal Alexandra Theatre from 13 February 2018 to 20 January 2019.
