What Is the Musical Heathers About?
Welcome to Westerburg High, where popularity can be a matter of life and death. Social reject Veronica Sawyer is just trying to get by, but when she is unexpectedly taken in by the beautiful but cruel Heathers, her dreams of being popular seem to be coming true. Her newfound status is rocked by rebel newcomer JD, however, and soon Veronica learns that it might hurt to be a nobody, but being somebody could lead to murder…
The History of Heathers the Musical
Wickedly funny and whip-smart, Heathers The Musical is adapted from the 1988 cult film, which famously starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. Fans of the film can enjoy its biggest, bloodiest and most hilarious moments reimagined via songs including “Candy Store”, “Seventeen” and “Dead Girl Walking”. Since its UK stage debut in 2018, it has become a sensation amongst young theatregoers and won the fan-voted WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical.

Heathers is adapted for the stage with a book, music and lyrics by Emmy nominee Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Reefer Madness! the Musical), and Lucile Lortel winner Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde the Musical, Bat Boy: The Musical). Andy Fickman (She’s the Man, Reefer Madness! the Musical) directs, with choreography by Gary Lloyd (Cruel Intentions the Musical, Sweet Charity).
