The Old Man and the Pool sparked into being after Mike Birbiglia’s doctor told him that he had inherited his family’s cardiac health issues, and prescribed a healthier lifestyle. In theory, that sounded doable, but in practice swimming had a few bad memories attached to it… Bad for him, but funny for the audiences who get to see his latest show!

Fans of Birbiglia will love this follow-up to Sleepwalk With Me and The New One, with plenty of in-jokes and callbacks as the comic continues exploring his own life and health for our entertainment. Who is Mike Birbiglia?

Dubbed “Broadway’s greatest comic storyteller” by Deadline, Mike Birbigilia is a comedian, actor, director and storyteller best known for his work on This American Life and The Moth. His award-winning feature directorial debut Sleepwalk with Me was also based on a stand-up show of the same name.

Several of his previous stand-up shows have become Netflix specials, placing him amongst some of the biggest comics of the 21st century, and his style - self-deprecating, observational, convivial and slightly zany - has seen him cover topics from the dangers of sleepwalking to our shared mortality with a skill that will have you gasping with laughter.
