What Is the Play The Guilty About?

In a police control room, troubled sergeant Joe is stuck on solo desk duties. As the night unfolds, Joe fields tedious calls about noise complaints and broken-down vehicles - until he receives a desperate, distressed call from Emily. In real time, Joe must decode a series of fragmented clues to save Emily from an ongoing abduction, whilst battling with the personal demons the case has stirred up. Filled with explosive twists and unpredictable turns, as the clock ticks on, it soon becomes evident that nothing is quite as it seems...

The History of The Guilty West End

The Guilty is based on the 2018 Danish thriller film Den Skyldige, which received a Hollywood remake in 2021 starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The play made its premiere at the Donmar Warehouse in 2026, and now transfers to the West End following a sold-out, critically acclaimed run.
