Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) Tickets

    Criterion Theatre

Boy meets girl has a 21st-century twist in this charming new British musical, in the West End after a sold-out season at Kiln Theatre.

Two Strangers Musical Tickets: A Heartwarming New Rom-Com

A bumbling, wide-eyed British guy meets a no-nonsense NYC native during a family wedding… it’s just like in the movies! But what happens next? Find out in charmingly subversive new musical Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). After a sensational premiere at Kiln Theatre, this gleeful spin on your favourite rom-com tropes is a breath of fresh air set amidst the snowy sights of the Big Apple, playing at the Criterion Theatre for a strictly limited season.

About Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)

Dougal is upbeat, naive and British. He’s flown from the UK to New York for his dad’s second wedding - a dad he’s never really met or known. At the airport, sister of the bride Robin is waiting to pick him up. She’s an NYC native through and through, busy, late for work and not hanging around to see the sights.

Love at first sight? Or even attraction at first sight? Definitely not! But as the wedding approaches and the whole of the Big Apple at their feet, who knows what could happen?

This brand-new British musical premiered at Kiln Theatre over Christmas 2023 and was hailed by critics as a “charming” (Time Out) two-hander that captures the excitement and delights of Hallmark and Richard Curtis films… with a few twists to keep it from being too feather-light!

    Two Strangers Musical Creative Team

This winsome show is the creation of composer Jim Barne and lyricist Kit Buchan, who won the 2020 Stage Debut Award for The Season. It is directed and choreographed by Tim Jackson, who recently worked on the Daniel Radcliffe-led Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along.

The original cast included Olivier Award winner Sam Tutty (Dear Evan Hansen) as Dougal and Dujonna Gift (Hamilton; Caroline, or Change) as Robin.

A Hit New British Musical Arrives!

Two Strangers has already proven a sensation, with a sold-out season at North London’s Kiln Theatre earning four and five-star reviews from critics. Described as “funny, heartfelt but unsentimental” (The Guardian) and a “self-referential treat” (The Independent), this is the perfect show for anyone who wants to be transported into a modern-day romantic comedy that happily riffs on the classics.
