Getting into the Venue

The Edinburgh Playhouse is situated on Greenside Lane and is step-free from the street into the Circle Bar, which is located on the right-hand side of the foyer. Entering through this main entrance gives level access to Circle seating, which is easy access for those with limited mobility.

All sections of the theatre must otherwise be reached by steps, as there is no customer lift. The Edinburgh Playhouse is not accessible for those with mobility scooters.

Customer Assistance

Staff are on hand for patrons who require assistance. Those who wish to transfer into aisle seats are advised to bring a companion. It is recommended that those wishing to transfer book seats in the rear Circle for their own ease. Please note that transfers may require two or more steps to reach.

The Edinburgh Playhouse is able to store wheelchairs in the Circle Bar for the duration of the performance. There is no cloakroom at this venue.

The Bistro and Ambassadors Lounge is located up three flights of stairs. An at-seat service is also available on request for those that are unable to access the bars. Staff must be notified prior to the performance if this service is required.

How to Book

For those who require assistance or wish to book wheelchair spaces and transfers, it is important to book well in advance to guarantee availability and notify the theatre of any special requirements. Discounted tickets are available for access patrons and one companion, with the price depending on the show booking.
