Map to Edinburgh Playhouse

18-22 Greenside Lane, Edinburgh, EH1 3AA

The Edinburgh Playhouse is located in Edinburgh’s New Town, an area known for its shopping and dining. It is also at the base of Calton Hill, one of Edinburgh’s highest points with panoramic views of the entire city. Though a steep walk, the top of the hill also has a collection of monuments. For an easier walk, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery is about 5 minutes away. Edinburgh is a small city, so it is easy to walk around the town centre. The Old Town’s architecture and the Castle are within 30 minutes of the theatre.

Edinburgh Waverley is within a 10 minute walk from the theatre. Exit the station onto Princes Street, then turn right. Walk toward a large hill ahead with monuments on the top, and when you reach Leith Street, bear left and walk down the hill. At the roundabout, stay right on Leith Walk. The theatre will be on your right.

There are several bus routes that stop near the Playhouse, but the closest are the 26 and 44, which stop around the corner on London Road. On Leith Walk, you can find bus routes: 7, 14, 29, 31, 37 and 49.

Q-Park OMNI offer a parking discount to Edinburgh Playhouse patrons. It is next to the theatre and charges £7 for up to 5 hours when seeing a show. See box office staff for details.
