The Booker-nominated epic on stage

James Norton and Omari Douglas star in a daring and devastating stage adaptation of Hanya Yanagihara’s bestselling novel A Little Life, celebrating its English language premiere at the Harold Pinter Theatre. In New York City, the complex relationship between four ambitious friends grows over three decades: artist JB, actor Willem, architect Malcolm and lawyer Jude. Addiction, jealousy and pride rear their heads, but a love for enigmatic Jude and his unknown past remains strong. When Jude’s secrets come to light, the friends discover the unlimited potential of love when faced with the tragedies of life. Hanya Yanagihara’s novel became a runaway hit after being nominated for the Man Booker Prize and striking a passionate chord with readers for its challenging subject matter. Visionary theatre director Ivo van Hove’s bold stage adaptation premiered in Amsterdam in 2018, and was performed four times with English surtitles at Edinburgh Festival in 2022. The A Little Life London cast is led by James Norton (Happy Valley), Omari Douglas (Cabaret; It’s a Sin), Luke Thompson (Bridgerton) and Zach Wyatt (The Witcher). It's really harrowing so sitting up in the balcony meant I was a bit more detached from it so I could appreciate the piece without getting emotionally involved. This play is not for the fainthearted. Stunning performances from everyone, especially Ja Read more

Magnificent, if like me you have read the book you won’t be too shocked with some of the scenes. Be prepared to feel uncomfortable at certain parts. James Norton is amazing and the rest of the cast are as good.

There are three rows at the back of the stage for the audience. It is, without doubt one of the most difficult shows to watch. There is violence, nudity and lots of blood but it is the story that makes it so difficult.
