Based on the popular UK television show that aired on Sky One in 2003, Brainiac Live makes science thrilling for audiences of all ages at the Garrick Theatre, located just a stone’s throw away from the bustling area of Leicester Square and Chinatown.
What Is Brainiac Live About?
Expected to be more mischievous than ever, Brainiac Live takes all those science experiments that are deemed too dangerous to try at home and brings them to life on the West End stage. From exploding microwaves, vortex smoke rings and exploding hydrogen balloons, to supercharged spinning chairs, Brainiac Live is a “60-minute entertainment spectacle that thrills with every crash, bang and wallop” (LondonTheatre1).
The History of Brainiac Live
Brainiac Live has been a firm favourite for families since its first staging in 2008, and it has gone on to become an international success. The show’s West End debut took place at the Palace Theatre, current home of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, in 2013. It went on to have more summer runs in London, as well as a two-week season at the Sydney Opera House and other subsequent productions in places like Hong Kong and Barcelona. Brainiac Live has also headlined major science festivals, and a recent dual-language English/Arabic production was staged in Saudi Arabia.
Last year, its success was rewarded when the show won the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Family show.
