What Is the Musical Burlesque About?
Aspiring singer Ali is “too much” for her quiet midwestern town, where she spends her days waitressing in her late mother's cafe. When Ali discovers she was adopted as a child, she leaves her humdrum home for the bright lights of New York City, hoping to find her long-lost birth mother. Drawn into the dazzling underworld of music, dance and seduction at a historic burlesque club, Ali not only finds her mother, Tess, who owns the club; she ends up finding herself, too. Amongst the misfits and dreamers of the club, Ali finally feels like she belongs, and sparks fly when she meets kindhearted barman Jackson. But when Tess’s vindictive ex Vince threatens to close down the club, Ali must fight for her new home. Will she be able to raise her voice to save Burlesque?
