Opens 30th July
This musical adaptation of the cult manga is a thrilling game of cat and mouse between an eccentric detective and an otherworldly killer.
Death Note: The Musical in London
Death Note: The Musical makes its UK premiere at the Barbican Theatre, just a short walk from Moorgate, this summer. Based on the bestselling Japanese manga, this stage adaptation transforms the cult phenomenon psychological thriller into a high-intensity musical. When high school student Light discovers an otherworldly notebook that will kill anyone whose name is written in its pages, he sets about ridding the world of evildoers - until quirky detective L enters the scene, seeking to discover who exactly is behind the murders. What ensues is a tense game of cat and mouse, in this “deliciously dark masterpiece” (Stage2Page), coming to London for a strictly limited run.
What Is Death Note: The Musical About?
When brilliant but disillusioned student Light Yagami discovers a mysterious notebook that grants him the power to kill anyone whose name he writes in it, his world changes instantly. The notebook belongs to Ryuk, a bored Shinigami, or death god, who drops it into the human world for his own amusement.
Determined to rid society of criminals, Light adopts the alias “Kira” and begins delivering his own twisted idea of justice, until his actions attract the attention of an enigmatic and eccentric detective known only as L. As the two engage in a tense battle of intellect and morality, the line between hero and villain swiftly blurs.
Blending supernatural elements with a gripping psychological duel, Death Note: The Musical explores power, corruption and the consequences of absolute justice, set to a stirring, contemporary score.
