Overview

Following the huge popularity of Cinderella in 2016, the London Palladium will once again host the West End’s leading pantomime spectacular during Christmas 2017, as Dick Whittington journeys on to the London stage.

With an exciting, hilarious and enchanting new version of the classic tale, this is set to be one of the highlights of the London’s festive offerings in 2017. Produced by Qdos Entertainment, the biggest producers of pantomime in the world and the team behind last year’s massively successful Cinderella, as well as over 650 other spectacular pantos, this is set to be yet another runaway success.

An all-star cast leads the show, including West End legend Elaine Paige as Queen Rat, award-winning actor Charlie Stemp and Emma Williams(Half a Sixpence) as Dick Whittington and Alice Fitzwarren, Julian Clary as Spirit of the Bells, Nigel Havers as Captain Nigel, Paul Zerdin as Idle Jack, Gary Wilmot as dame Sarah the Cook and Ashley Banjo and dance troupe Diversity as The Sultan and his Entourage.

Qdos Entertainment’s 2016 show was the first time in 29 years that a pantomime was performed at the London Palladium, with the last silly spectacular playing in 1987, starring Barbara Windsor in Babes in the Woods. Due to the huge success of Cinderella they are on their way to establishing a brilliant new tradition of exciting, adventurous and hilarious West End pantomimes.

Dick Whittington tells the story of how a plucky youngster who journeys away from his poverty-stricken childhood to make his fortune by battling with rats with his trusted cat in the big city of London.

Set to be one of the most popular shows this year, make sure to book early to get the best Dick Whittington tickets and avoid disappointment! This festive spectacular is guaranteed to be the perfect Christmas outing for all the family.

What can I say except that my husband and I were blown away and the 7 year old grandson was immersed too. Julian Clary, Elaine Paige, Ashley Banjo and Diversity, Nigel Havers (bless him, he was my favourite), Gary Wilmot and Charlie Stemp were supported with an amazing troupe of talented actors, singers and dancers. The costumes were just to die for as were the sets too. Great script and a good balance between innuendo and jokes for the kids. Fabulous afternoon's entertainment. Enjoyed every second.

The critics have said it all, fantastic night out the entire cast are superb and individual performances excellent, special mention to Gary Wilmott and Nigel Havers, both of whom 'almost' steal the show. Mr Clary is indeed the master of timing and the ad lib and certainly does not disappoint... Kudos all round for a terrific 2017 Panto. Just one 'tiny' note to producers for next years Panto... 40% of Dick Whittington is virtually 'copied' from last years Cinderella, I refer to Paul Zerdin and the two audience/children participation spots... None the less, the man is gifted and indeed gave of his all. Also, this years production is a good 30 minutes shorter than that of 2016.

If you want to see the most spectacular costumes, set with a big band - and great songs, dancing and jokes, this is the panto for you. Julian Clary had a costume change every few minutes, Elaine Paige sang well known songs with panto lyrics, Charlie Stemp - a great Dick singing and dancing and Diversity great dancing as the Sultans! And top it all a gorgeous cat " Eileen". If you have not been to a panto and want a wow! do go and see!

Loved the show. There seemed to be more adults in the audience than children which was surprising. It was star studded and such good fun. The costumes and sets were fantastic. Julian Clary definitely stole the show but the rest of the cast were fab Nigel Havers, Elaine Paige, Gary Wilmott, Charlie Stemp and Paul Zerdin. A great night out with loads of laughs.

This was by far the funniest and well presented pantomime I have ever seen. The costumes and sparkle were fantastic, particularly Julian Clary's. To be honest the whole cast, selected for their particular talents, did not disappoint. See it while you can!

What a show! What a Sweetshop! I loved this, it was the perfect traditional pantomime - smut, innuendo, original songs- including a genius Tube Song, celeb appearances, lots of 4th wall breaking and getting the kids on stage at the end was charming. Will be back next year!!
