Best friends and comic-book masterminds George and Harold are back - and this time, they’ve gone full razzle dazzle. The ten-year-old pranksters decide it’s time to bring their most beloved character to life: Dog Man, the fearless, furniture-chewing crime-fighter who’s part canine, part cop, and all hero. And this isn't just any old Dog Man story - it’s a musical. 
But things quickly get ruff for this crime-biting hero. Dog Man’s arch-nemesis, Petey the Cat, has cloned himself for double trouble, the villainous cyborg fish Flippy is building an army of Beasty Buildings, and George and Harold might not finish their show before lunchtime!

The History of Dog Man: The Musical 

Dog Man: The Musical is based on the hugely successful children’s graphic novels by Dav Pilkey, whose irreverent humour and doodle-style drawings have won him millions of fans around the world. First published in 2016, the Dog Man books have sold over 50 million copies and are known for combining slapstick silliness with messages of kindness, creativity and second chances.

The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 2019, presented by TheatreWorksUSA, and was praised by The New York Times as “a hilarious delight” that successfully brought the chaos and heart of the books to life. It has since toured the US and enjoyed widespread acclaim from families and educators alike.

Fun fact: Dav Pilkey came up with the idea for Dog Man when he was just a kid himself, as the character was invented during a school assignment that resulted in him being sent to the hallway for disrupting class! That same spirit of rebellious creativity now fuels this hilarious musical.

The musical is directed and choreographed by Jen Wineman (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Shakespeare in Love) with book and lyrics by Emmy nominee and Tony winner Kevin Del Aguila (Peg + Cat, Altar Boyz), and music by Brad Alexander (Clifford the Big Red Dog, Click, Clack, Moo). 

The show is produced by TheatreWorksUSA, a company known for creating fantastic theatre experiences for younger audiences.
