The History of Electra/Persona
Electra/Persona is based on Electra by Sophocles and the award-winning 1966 Ingmar Bergman film Persona. This new adaptation by acclaimed director Benedict Andrews fuses these two great works of storytelling together in a boundary-pushing new play.
The Cast of Electra/Persona
Cate Blanchett leads the cast. Blanchett is an Australian actor, perhaps best known for her roles as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings and for her award-winning performances in Tar, The Aviator, Carol, and Notes On A Scandal. Blanchett’s numerous accolades include two Academy Awards (and multiple nominations), four BAFTAs, four Golden Globe Awards, and nominations for three Emmys, an Olivier Award and a Tony Award. Her stage credits include The Seagull, Platonov, The Maids and Oleanna.
Joining Blanchett are Nina Hoss (The Cherry Orchard) and Ella Lily Hyland (Black Doves).

Benedict Andrews directs and adapts the script from Bergman’s film and Sophocles’ play. Andrews is an Australian director and writer. His credits include A Streetcar Named Desire with Gillian Anderson, The Maids with Blanchett and Isabella Huppert and Una with Rooney Mara.
