What is Frozen the Musical about?
Princess Anna and Princess Elsa are sisters whose close relationship is shattered when Elsa's magical powers cause mayhem. After their kingdom is thrown into a never-ending winter and Elsa is cast out, Anna is determined to undo the spell and bring her sister home. She is joined along the way by an array of friendly faces including cheery Olaf the Snowman, Sven the reindeer and Kristoff.One of Disney’s biggest and best animated films of the 21st century has enjoyed its own Elsa-like transformation to become this dazzling musical. The show features songs from the Academy Award-winning film - including “Let It Go”, “Love Is an Open Door” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” - made all the more incredible by stunning set design, special effects and costumes that completely immerse audiences in the world of Arendelle and beyond.
Who plays Elsa in Frozen the Musical?
Samantha Barks currently stars as Elsa in Frozen's West End production. Barks originated the role of Elsa when the musical opened in London, and was highly praised for bringing the powerful queen to life in a "powerhouse" (The Evening Standard) performance. In addition to Samantha Barks as Elsa, the West End cast of Frozen features Laura Dawkes as Anna, Oliver Ormson as Hans, Jammy Kasongo as Kristogff, Richard Frame as the Duke of Weselton and Craig Gallivan (School of Rock the Musical) providing laughs and comedy as Olaf.The show has music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Coco) and Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon), who also worked on the film, and costumes & set design, bringing the bright and beautiful kingdom to life, by Christopher Oram.
