What is the musical Get Down Tonight about?

It’s 1970s Miami, and bored record store clerk Harry is dreaming of bigger things. When he meets some like-minded musicians, the four friends band together to make their dreams of music stardom into a reality. Drawing on the remarkable true story of musician, producer and songwriter Harry Wayne Casey - better known as KC - Get Down Tonight follows pioneering disco foursome KC and the Sunshine Band from their very beginnings. With a healthy dose of nostalgia, plenty of “irresistible shimmy” (The Scotsman) and featuring some of KC and The Sunshine Band’s most beloved hits, this feel-good musical is perfect for disco divas and musical theatre fans.

Get Down Tonight first premiered under the title Who Do Ya Love? at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe, to critical acclaim, and had fringe-goers shaking their booties. The musical has been expanded and reworked for its London premiere. “Full of vim and invention,” (What’s On Stage), you won't want to miss this uplifting tribute to friendship, love and the songs that bring people together.

It was more of a story of how Harry Wayne Casey, the lead singer of K C and the Sunshine band got started. About his life and close friends. The singing and dancing were excellent, helped by the brilliant band including top class Bassist Otto William Read more
